About EXIST Grant Berlin

APPLY HERE

The EXIST Start-up Grant (EXIST-Gründungsstipendium) supports innovative, knowledge-based or technology-oriented projects that are planned for the German market and have not yet been incorporated. The funding period is up to 12 months.

Through EXIST Grant Berlin, we help founding teams shape their application, stress-test the idea, and get submission-ready. We especially encourage diverse teams and impact-driven ventures with a strong tech or science foundation.

Your next step: send a 2-page idea summary via the application form HERE

The best next step is to submit a preliminary idea summary (max. 2 pages). This allows an initial assessment and is the basis for a first conversation once I have reviewed it.

Format
Max 2 pages
Continuous text only (no tables, figures, or graphics)
German is typically expected in the formal screening step (we can review in English first if needed)

Key eligibility criteria (high level)
_ Pre-incorporation: the company must not yet be formally registered at the time of application.
_ Berlin-based: at least one team member is based in Berlin for the full funding period (for our Berlin support track).
_ Academic link: at least one founder is currently a student or has graduated within the last 5 years (typical eligibility framing in the programme and many university partners’ processes).
_ Focus: innovative, knowledge-based/tech-driven ideas, ideally with a clear sustainability or impact component.
